Covid-19 Update
It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you we have taken the inevitable decision to close the centre from 19th March. The health, welfare and wellbeing of our guests, volunteers and staff is our top priority. Considering the current health concerns surrounding COVID-19 and the government’s public advice on stopping all non-essential contact and travel, we think this is the right decision.
If you are coming to stay with us, we will have been in contact with you to update you on the situation. Any group bookings and events, including our Easter Sun Rise Service, are now cancelled. We expect that this situation will cover April, May and June as a minimum, but the situation could change. This decision has not been taken lightly, we know how important retreating to Westwood is to many and we are sad we won’t be able to welcome guests, at least for a little while.
Our team are staying positive. We’re seeing this as a chance to support our lovely local community. We’ll be working with Bolster Moor Community Association to make sure the most vulnerable in our area are safe and have enough provisions. If you are self-isolating and need any support, please message us or the BMCA page.
Please, please, please support your local charities and small businesses through this time. If you’re able, order online from those little places, maybe buy a voucher for future use or write them a nice review.
As a charity, we rely on the income from bookings to continue operating, the loss of income we are going to experience is a reason for concern. Speaking honestly, while closed, Westwood only has the funds to sustain its staff/volunteers and the building for approximately 4 months. In the next few days, we’ll be announcing ways you can help support us. In the meantime, If you feel able to support Westwood financially in any capacity, to help us weather through this uncertain time, please contact our office and ask how you can become a ‘Friend of Westwood’.
We truly hope it won’t be too long before we can start welcoming guests. Until then, please stay safe and thank you for understanding.
